Herring Carnaby brogues

I am getting married in a few months and so I need a nice pair of shoes. My suit is a three piece navy and I am after a fairly a classic look. I have found it quite difficult to source the right kind of dark brown full brogue oxford from the usual suspects and so ended up on the Herring website as they stock some other makes I had been interested in. Fortunately their Carnaby brogues are exactly what I was looking for. They are made in England by Barker (a firm I have worn and found comfortable before) and at £225 are quite a bit cheaper than most of the other options I had lined up.

I decided to take the risk and order online. Herring have an online last comparison and I was able to use this to check them against the last of another pair that I know to fit well. The shoes arrived via the Collect+ delivery system to a local garage (so I didn’t need to be in) and arrived in 24 hours with no charge for delivery.

The fit is perfect and my feet at least are now well sorted for my special day. The colour and style are just what I was after and I couldn’t be more chuffed. If I had been less chuffed, Herring have included a free returns form in the box, a box happily filled with individual shoe bags, a shoe horn and a bottle of shoe cream in the correct colour.

Other than not having had the time to test the longevity and build quality of the shoes (although I have no doubt they are fantastic), I can’t find any complaints and would highly recommend checking out Herring Shoes if you are in the market for such a thing. Even before trying them on I had to get them into the studio, so have a look at the shots below. I have paid for these and being a photographer not a writer I don’t do reviews unless I really like something, so please understand if the photos are a lot stronger than the words.

Cheers, Matt.
